How Blogging with Estelle Came To Be

I write to share the memories of my life with a widowed mother and three sisters. It is my hope that, through these writings, I will be able to recapture those years and share them in book form as the story of my mother's life. She deserves to be so honored.

Though never easy, our life together was unique and wonderful. Many people helped to shape us into the persons we have become.  Great credit is due our grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins of many generations.

I am a wife of 60 years, mother of four, grandmother of 12, and great-grandmother of 3. My husband and I reared our children based as best we could on the biblical principle from Proverbs 22:6: "Train up a child in the way he should go. Even when he is old he will not depart from it," (NAS).

Originally from Greenville, South Carolina, I call Jacksonville, Florida home, but we maintain very close ties with my Carolina siblings and other relatives. We are strong in our Christian faith and worship as United Methodists. My political philosophy leans toward Republican, but I maintain an independence from all rigid ideologies. I have a great zest for life lived fully.

I enjoy freelance writing as my favorite activity, followed by reading historical non-fiction. It is my hope that, through my stories, you will be encouraged to savor the blessings of family harmony.
